The Galileo type shuttlecraft was used by Starfleet starships and starbases during the mid 23rd century. They are 6.7 meters in length and come in both warp capable and impulse only variations.

The Galileo first appeared in "The Galileo Seven", and again in "Journey to Babel", "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield", "Metamorphosis", and "The Immunity Syndrome".

In the episode "The Menagerie" the shuttlecraft launched from Starbase 11 is designated as a 'Class F'. However, the Star Trek Encyclopedia does not confirm this designation for the shuttlecraft.

Named for the mathematician and astromer Galileo Galilei (1564-1642).
