FSD: Starship Database - Miranda-class

The Miranda-class starships are one of the oldests vessels still in active service with Starfleet. The Miranda has been in use since as early as the 2260's, and were still widely used in many Starfleet offensives against the Dominion during the 2370's.

Aside from being well armed, Miranda-class ships also are used for science and exploration. There have been three variants of this class, the original featured a "roll bar" that was armed with torpedo launchers. The second variant simply had the roll bar removed which made it less armed than the first and third types. The third type itself was also roll bar-less, but featured possible torpedo launchers attached to the sides by the warp nacelles.

Named for Prospero's daughter, a character in William Shakespeare's last play, The Tempest.

The USS Reliant was designed by Mike Minor and Joe Jennings for Star Trek II and built at ILM.

USS Brattain NCC-21166
   While under the command of Captain Chantal Zaheva the Brattain mysteriously disappeared in 2367 and was found trapped in Tyken's    Rift.
   The ship's name on the model was spelt "Brittain" by mistake.

USS Lantree NCC-1837
The crew of the Lantree was killed in 2365 after being exposed to a group of genetically engineered human children whose immune systems actively sought out and attacked potential sources of disease. The Lantree was destroyed with a single torpedo fired from the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D.

USS Majestic NCC-31060
Destroyed in the mission to retake Deep Space 9 from the Dominion in 2374.

USS Nautilus NCC-31910
   Part of the Starfleet task force that included Klingon and Romulan fleets to invade the Chin'toka System in Cardassian space during the    Dominion War in 2374.
   Named for the first submarine to reach the North Pole and Captain Nemo's vessel in 20,000 Leagues under the Sea.
   "Tears of the Prophets" - DS9.

USS Reliant NCC-1864
   Surveyed planets in the Mutara Sector for the Project Genesis in 2285. The Reliant was hijacked by Khan Noonien Singh and was    destroyed in the Mutara Nebula by the Genesis device.
   The Reliant was the first appearance of the Miranda-class.

USS Saratoga NCC-1867
   Disabled by an unknown alien space probe while the patrolling the Neutral Zone.
   Mistakenly listed as NCC-1937 in the Star Trek Encyclopedia.

USS Saratoga NCC-31911
Destroyed by the Borg at Wolf 359 in 2367, Captain Sisko who was a Lieutenant Commander at the time served as First Officer onboard the Saratoga.

USS ShirKahr NCC-31905
   Part of the Starfleet task force that invaded the Chin'toka System in 2374; the ShirKahr was destroyed by the Dominion orbital weapons    platforms.
   Named for the Vulcan city that was Spock's hometown in the animated series episode "Yesteryear".

USS Sitak NCC-
Destroyed in the massive Starfleet armada to retake DS9 from the Dominion in 2374.
"Sacrifice of Angels" - DS9.

USS Tian An Men NCC-21823
   Served in Captain Picard's tachyon blockade during the Klingon Civil War in 2368. Lost near the Cardassian border in 2373 and    presumed destroyed by Dominion forces.
   Named in honor of the people who died for the cause of Chinese freedom at Tian An Men Square.

Fought in the final battle with in the Dominion War.
