The Type 9 shuttlecraft has less internal volume than other Starfleet shuttles. There is room for two pilots
and four passengers. What makes the Type 9 stand out from other shuttles is its warp power, it is currently one
of the fastest shuttles used by Starfleet, surpassed by the Type 11, with a top speed of warp 4. They measure
8.5 meters in length and 2.95 meters in height. The Type 9 can also be equipped with Type 4 phaser emitters.
The Type 9 was originally called the Type 12 by designer Rick Sternbach, and was again redesignated as a
Class 2 shuttle. The Class 2 designation may be for shuttles with small crew cabins and very limited amenities.
Class 2 shuttles include the Type 6, 8, and 9 models.
